The 6th World Karate Championship in Weight Categories Guidelines for Various Applications
1. Outline of the Tournament
■ Name: The 6th World Karate Championship in Weight Categories
■ Date: July 1 & 2 (Sat. & Sun.), 2017
■ Venue: Daulet Sports Complex (010000 Astana, 6/3 Kabanbay Batyr str., Kazakhstan)
■ Official Hotel① (for WKO Board, Auditors, and Committee Members): Radisson Hotel Astana (Sary Arka Street 4, Astana 010000, Kazakhstan)
■ Official Hotel② (for Branch Chiefs/Contacts and competitors): Park Inn Hotel, Sary Arka Street, 8/A, Astana 010000, Kazakhstan) *Both hotels are at a 5 minute-walk distance from each other, and 2 km from the tournament venue
■ Organizer: Organizing Committee of the 6th World Karate Championship in Weight Categories,
NPO World Karate Organization Shinkyokushinkai Kazakhstan Branch
■ Fighters: 204 selected fighters (136 men and 68 women) from 10 regions across the world
■ Tournament Style: Full Contact Karate tournament in weight categories
■ Awards: 1st – 3rd place of each category 2. Guidance for Application (for Competitors)
■ Qualified Fighters: Men and women selected by each region. The competitor should be age 18 years or older on tournament day, have been training Karate, and physically fit enough to fight. Those who are pregnant at the time of the tournament will not be allowed to participate.
■ Tournament Rules: Full Contact Karate, based on the WKO Competition Rules. Weight category: Men (-65 kg, -75kg, -85 kg, +85 kg), Women (-50kg, -55 kg, -60 kg, +60 kg).
■ Application: Each Regional Representative is requested to inform the WKO Headquarters of their fighter(s) as soon as they are selected. Each competitor has to submit the following documents through their affiliated Country/Regional Representative or Branch Chief/Contact: ① Completed Application Form ② 2 Photos (in Dogi, Country/Competitor’s name should be written in the back, or can be sent by e-mail in JPEG format); ③ Signed Written Oath

Missing the deadline, incomplete forms, and/or false information may cause disqualification.
Deadline of the Application: Must reach the WKO Headquarters no later than January 31 (Tue.), 2017
■ Reserve Fighter: For countries/regions that wish to register reserve fighters, the same procedure as official fighters is required to be taken. Each reserve fighter should submit the application form (clearly state “Reserve” and priorities if it is more than one fighter) with photos and written oath by January 31 (Tue.), 2017. In a case where the official fighter is unable to fight due to injury or other reasons before the tournament draw meeting (scheduled to be held in early March), the spot could be replaced by the reserve fighter who completed the above registration, after the Tournament Executive Committee’s approval.
■ If a fighter(s) needs a visa to enter Kazakhstan, he/she should fill in and send the Application form for visa support (will be attached with the February 2017 Newsletter). Please also send your passport copy. To the following E-mail: astanakarate2017@gmail.com

All financial charges on registration of invitation are carried by Organizing Committee. 2 ■ Entry Fees: USD$200 The method of payment will be announced in the next February 2017 Newsletter. ■ Expenses covered by the Organizer: For those who have completed the application above in time, the Organizing Committee will arrange and cover the followings: Hotel Fees: June 29 (Thu.) in – July 3 (Mon.) out, twin rooms for 4 nights, with breakfast Others: Entrance fees to tournament venue and sayonara party ■ Notice for the tournament:  The fighters must wear a clean, white Dogi. Details regarding the number that will be sewn on the dogi will be announced at a separate timing. Opening Ceremonies will be held on both days. Competitors should dress in national uniforms or formal wear (not Dogi) on Saturday (all competitors) and Dogi on Sunday (those who fight on the day).
There are several hospitals within a 5-10 km radius from the hotel and arena, and they will mainly be able to respond in Russian. The organizer will provide support with interpreters (English and etc.) in times of need. As mentioned in the Written Oath, there is no insurance prepared by the organizer for the event, and competitors should prepare their own individual insurance for the tournament and stay in Kazakhstan.
3. Guidance for Application (for Branch Chiefs/Contacts)
■ Please confirm and fill out the Attendance Confirmation Questionnaire attached with this December 2016 & January 2017 Newsletter (deadline: January 31, 2017). A separate document will be sent with the next February 2017 Newsletter, in which Branch Chiefs/Contacts that are attending the event will be asked to present their flight schedule and accommodation request by the deadline (currently planned for March 31, 2017).
■ If a Branch Chief/Contact needs a visa to enter Kazakhstan, he/she should fill in and send the Application form for visa support (will be attached with the February 2017 Newsletter). Please also send a passport copy.

4. Others
■ World Karate Seminar and WKO Dan Grading Examination: July 4 (Tue.) – 6 (Thu.).For Brown Belts (2
kyu) or higher grades. The fee to join the Seminar is USD$300 (2 nights). Examinees are to pay US
D$100 in addition. Seminar will be held at Zhaksy-2 Training Camp (476410, Shuchinsk, Akmolinskaya
Oblast, Kazakhstan), located 250 km (about 2.5 hours by bus) from Astana. Application forms are
attached with this December 2016 & January 2017 Newsletter. The method of payment will be
announced in the next February 2017 Newsletter. *WKO Grading & Technical Committee Members will
not be charged for their participation, for they have duties in the seminar.
■ Tournament Tickets: will be available for purchase at the following websites, from 0:00 (Kazakhstan

Please confirm that the price (in Kazakhstani Tenge) of the tickets differ depending on the seats of preference for both dates of the tournament, in the following manner.

The organizer will not be able to accept group orders based on countries or teams, and the basic principle is that tournament tickets must be purchased at the above websites, with the tickets being sold on a first come, first served system. The organizer will be able to respond to requests for ticket refunds, as long as the request is at an early stage (before June 30). For details, please contact the organizer at the abovementioned contact information.
■ Sayonara Party: at Radisson Hotel Astana on July 2 (Sun.) after the tournament. Details will be
announced in the next February 2017 Newsletter.
■ Supporters must purchase packages (hotel and ticket) if they need support from the organizer to get visas.
